Your information
Privacy policy
Near2 is the controller of personal information processed through this service. This policy explains how we handle information in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
Information we collect
- Account information, such as your name, email address, phone number and account preferences.
- Business listing information, including business contact details, services, locations, photos and claim requests.
- Reviews, reports, favourites and enquiries that you submit or receive through Near2.
- Technical and security information needed to operate the service, prevent abuse and diagnose faults. Site usage reporting is aggregated and does not use tracking cookies.
- Payment and subscription status information. Card payments are processed by Stripe; Near2 does not store full payment card details.
Why we use information
We use information to provide accounts and listings, deliver messages, manage claims and reviews, process payments, protect the service, meet legal obligations and respond to support requests. We rely on contract, legitimate interests, consent where required, and legal obligations as applicable.
Service providers and storage
We use Stripe for payments, Postmark for service email and DigitalOcean for hosting in a UK or EU region. When you view a map, map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap's tile service, which receives your IP address to deliver them. These providers process information under their contractual and security arrangements. We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal, accounting, safety and dispute-resolution requirements. Some records, such as payment records or moderation decisions, may need to be retained after an account is closed. Reviews may be anonymised rather than removed where needed to preserve service integrity.
Your rights
You may have the right to access, correct, export, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Use your privacy settings to request an export or account deletion, or contact us for other requests.
Complaints
Please contact Near2 first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
